| it all depends on your listening tastes. Both sets are great, The type x have a more laid back sound to them, where as the Focal are a little harsh to some people. I;d take the Focal over the two.
When you say that you want to wire them without the crossover, you mean you will be using some sort of active crossover right? you will be wiring both mids, and tweet to the amp, but if your amp doesn't have the right xo points, it can be difficult without a 2-way crossover. if you want to compeltely remove the crossover aspect of the setup, I wouldn't go that route.
