They actually have some slam, more clarity detailed highs with air and firm tight bass. Mind you it does break up at a much higher volumes. Sounds much louder than 18 watts per channel. I can't imagine (it's been a long time for me- born again car audio virgin) what a good set of amps, components and subs would sound like (next phase). I was told this HU is the next best HU since the Alpine CDA 7998 of which I was trying to get my hands on. Bang for the buck awesome 24 bit DAC. Mp3's are a killer on this already tried various genre's from Jazz, Blues, R & B, female and male vocals. It is a tad bit forward at times I hoping it will smooth
out over time once it works in. If not I will buy my components and amps accordingly to fine tune the sound. All in all quite impressed by the huge gains with the installation of this unit. Not the most user friendly HU need to spend time on the manual and probably more bells and whistles than most audiophiles need....

I read about this HU on crutchfield, and one commenter mentioned he can't adjust bass/treble until he purchases the accompanying EQ, IMPRINT Sound Manager (KTX-100EQ). Did you get the KTX at the same time? How much?
I have this HU on my short list as well and would like to know the cost of both.
