just an FYI... amps mounted on the ceiling would put you in to a wall class.
How does it affect the way a system performs? Well for one thing it lowers the height of the ceiling. Second, it reinforces it. Third (and this is probably the big part) is that it makes so you can fit more equipment.
When competing against other "no wall" competitors they all have to find a way to keep their equipment under the window line. Mounting amps up top gives you an unfair advantage.
(btw, I'm not here to debate the rule.. but that's just the way it is and will be ruled)
