If I am not mistaken I am the only person that is giving away atleast 10k in give aways during the season. This not including the bad ass trophies I have made for every show. Soundstream, Code Alarm, and Motorola have been generous enough to donate some amazing items this year so I CAN GIVE THEM TO YOU THE COMPETITORS. I put my butt on the line to help promote the car audio industry and I hold events at stores that may not even carry these lines. I hold the events at various stores in hopes the store will sell product even if it not one that I represent.
It seems to me that there is a handfull of people that appreciate the fact that I have taken 26 days out if my summer to hold events and hang out and give away free stuff. I would much rather be fishing and hanging out by the water. There are quite a few hatters from the Southwestern part of Ontario that think they can do better. I wish them luck. There were very few shows like the CSPL ones when I was competing hardcore. I remember going to shows and receiving a nice trophy at one show and a small 2" by 2" trophy at another show. I really hated getting jipped with a small trophy. Also you would be lucky to get a shirt or hat. Now I decided to control the trophies at my events and not leave it up to the stores. This way everyone that wins leaves win a very nice trophy. If someone didn't win a trophy there is still an opportunity to win an amp, sub, alarm or bluetooth piece just for entering.
I think sometimes I have out done myself with the size of the trophies. I put alot into WHAT I AM GIVING AWAY and all I get are complainers. And how many of us can say we have been in a national car audio magazine many times. I line up all of the finances required to pay for the event coverage to make everyone famous. WHY. Honestly I have had enough. I am not going to argue back and fourth with anyone especially the self proclaimed leader legend or whatever he wants to be called about how I run my life and my shows. I would much rather do stuff for my self in the future and I will find it hard to go out of my way to do things for others outside of my normal work duties in this industry.
Last year the VP from Soundstream flew from California to attend a show in Ontario and he flew back the next day. Why. To see you the competitors. This year he has requested the opportunity to attend another event and he is bringing someone with him. Soundstream has supported the shows and have shipped me so much giveawys that is is stacked to the ceiling in my basement. WHY? For the competitors.
Also why do I book my show schedule in April? Why do I book 26 shows? I do all of this so that I can project how many prizes I need for the summer and the stores can plan ahead. The sponsors want exposure and organized events and they appreciate the magazine coverage and summer full of promotions. They also need a schedule to follow and submit to their superiors so they can get the prizes approved.
I am not having fun anymore because it has turned into a pissing match and other event promoters want to book events on the same days as mine. This is not the way to grow this hobby. Remember this is a hobby and we have to grow up sometime. So to all of the haters grow up and keep your comments to yourself. I am getting too old for this crap.
