| way back about 14yrs ago my boss had about 6 of those little 129db piezio sirens you can buy at radioshack mounted in various places throughout his jimmy, I think he had them triggered through a relay from his alarm's aux out or something (I'm not an alarm guy)
but anyways when he triggered it you couldn't stand to keep your head inside the truck it was loud and ear peircing
he also had a litle 12volt gel cell from a house alarm system mounted under his drivers seat as an aux power source for the alarm, that way if they poped the hood an cut the main power wires it'd still keep going off
as for alarms I've been told any of the directed electronics brands are pretty good http://www.directed.ca/ [ June 22, 2004, 01:18 PM: Message edited by: dodgeram ] |

| ^dont get me started on razorblades and fish hooks. Almost saw a kid get strangled to death in the middle of the showroom by a co-worked of mine, who pulled the kids deck out for service and almost cut 3 of his fingers clean off.
Do you know how a bosch relay and a diode works? If not, I would not suggest attempting an alarm install.

| O^ How about mustard gas then , the repsonsibility lies with the owner of the car and you would definatly have to warn or disengages all your secirty measures when you or someone lese is working on the car , unless of course the car has been impunded by the pigs and they are trying to salvage and sell of your stereo just have a short attack of multiple sclerosis !
you forgot to mention salanoides and salmonoides ? |

| Nice....cool stories....as for diodes and relays....I am quite familiar with all that so there is no worries on part. My biggest thing is, I want to do it myself. For some reason I just can't trust anyone else with my car. You know? Same goes with all the stuff I've installed on it. I feel 110% better knowing that I did it an not have to worry if someone else goofed something or forgot something. I just have never bought an alarm before an am looking to get the proper gear for what I want.

| You can do it yourself, the alarm will come with MOST everything you need, except extra wires where needed, but if you can include colour code changes in your wiring diagram, than Bob's your uncle.., or whatever.
The one thing is that the Warranty period may differ for self installation.(a perk the dealer gets for installation of the product is extended warranty coverage), but as you're probably well aware, if the product is defect free for the first 6-8 Months, than it should last a lifetime.
The best tip I can give you to install your own alarm(or someone else's) is "think like a thief, and then figure out how you're going to prevent that son of a so'n'so from undoing your work."
Good luck, and if you need help, we're here for you. [ June 23, 2004, 12:16 AM: Message edited by: Eli47 ]
