Hey guys, ever since I installed the Remote start system in my car, I have had this problem, that if my stereo was on (loud or not) when I shut the car off, then when remote starting the car, the stereo was going, pounding and causing problems when remote starting late at night in my parking lot.

I have been meaning to fix this problem for a while, and the PITA solution (which required no work at all) was to just get into the habbit of turning the system down to 0, or shutting it down before I killed the ignition. This posed a few problems, as I often forget to turn the system down, and if I were to shut it off completely, then when I got back into the car I would have to turn the deck back on manually, and I like it when it turns itself on...

so on to the solution...

I have a 97 civic, thus no imob. unit from the factory, so no use for the status output wire from the alarm.

I grabed a run of the mill SPDT automotive relay, and

wired pin 85 to 12V (+) with a small 1A inline fuse.
Wired pin 86 to the status output wire (-) fom the alarm harness
wired pin 30 to a 12V (+) source that is going to the switched wire
in the Hu's harness (cut switched wire, 12V side goes to pin 30, HU side goes to pin 85)
wired pin 85 to the switched power in the harness side of the line

So now the car can be remote started, all ACC have power (heater, defrost, AC etc.) but the radio and amps stay off. Once you disarm the car, and put the key in the status output wire doesn't output a - signal anymore, and the radio comes on.

hope that helps someone...

regards, Mark

In a Civic the deck shouldn't come on when you remote start it anyway. The deck and the heater accessory wire are not the same and you only need to hook up the heater accessory wire for remote start. I would put the Hu wire to 87a on the relay instead of going to pin 85.
