| Ok I'm gonna go over this slowly because it even confuses me. I have a Sundown Audio 100.4 (100wRMS 4ch) amp. I will be running it active with Polk Audio MM6 Component Set. The tweets are rated to 60wRMS and so I decided I might try my shot at throwing in a center, 5th channel. The center channel would be composed of 2 identical tweeters, preferably still in stereo (both facing opposite seats to add the effect of stereo, let me know if this isn't possible). This, in effect, should not only sound better, but also should keep my tweets far running 40w over their limit. Now my question is, how would I go about wiring all this? Would it be worth it? Should they be mono or stereo? Thanks guys!
Ps, my system is nearly ready to be unveiled. The work I'm tossing in this baby is going to be immense for a simple guys first stereo. *evil laugh* |

| What are you going to amp your center channel with? I'm anti center channel unless you have a dedicated channel and a processor.
If you wire them in parallel with your main tweeters you'll just increase the power that the amp puts out. If you do them in series you'll have output level issues possibly. And really for center channel you generally want something to play lower than a tweeter. You could add a pair of tweeters in the a-pillars playing 10000hz + to raise the stage tho.

| if you have a 4ch for tweeters ch 1 L , ch 2 R , 3-4 into one wire ........what oms is the tweeters ............i think i would look at mono load for 3 &4 but you will have a 1ch at 4-8oms 2ch 4-8oms and 3-4ch seeing a 8-16 oms i would not do a 2oms..........maybe.......if at 2oms thay would see the same load as the tweeters in 1 & 2 but if you have it set up in the higher oms the tweeters will get less power and you may not hear them as being there and if thay have the same power as 1 & 2
i would need time in the car and some tape with wire and amp

| Shoot, well upon further review, my 3-4 ch would run my comp mids leavin 1-2 for my tweets. If I added the tweets to my 1-2ch it would either increase the ohms or have both speakers playing at the same level. Also, after checkin what Shon said, I don't believe tweets will give me what I want in a mid, (down to 1000hz decently). Thanks anyways guys! |

| the tweeters are rated 60 watts with a crossover! I have neve seen a tweeter that can handle 60 watts without one. So you are really way overpowerd if you are running with an active setup. But Dont worry, use your ears to judge if you are overpowering and distorting.

| You want to run a center channel,, but not put a speaker in the center?
and you want to use one channel, but still be stereo?
You can get center channel amps that;ll solve you right up!
Also,, I do believe that on the PG website a while ago, there was a how to on
making your own center channel from a multi channel amp!
But, I don't like em myself,, stage it properly and you wont need it!
Our Chrysler 300C has a center channel and I always turn it off.

| If you ever plan on doing a carputer, wiring up a center channel will be easy peasy with a 5.1 soundcard. |
