| My 6.5'' Type R Speaker is 100rms. My amp running it is 75rmsx4. Simple enough its powered just right. So all of a sudden today the one speaker starts to static badly, and if i tapped it, it would peak than die, than peak again. So i took the wiring out of the amp, put it all back together and it seems to have stopped. Now is this a sign the coil or what not is going? or could it have just been wires touching each other to cause the static? And yes it is all wired properly. Everything is ground properly too. And the other speaker does not do this. Asking, cuz I dont want to take the entire back end apart to find out its fine. |

| I've had a problem in the past where there was a shorted speaker wire that only shorted when the system was playing, not there when it was off or very quiet. It was very hard to find. It turned out to be one strand sticking out of a speaker wire, just barely touching the other terminal. The reason it sounded so bad was the amp was going into protect mode and shutting down, the fault went away, so the amp came back on, shorted again, went into protect mode, etc., ect.
It was hard to find but easy to fix.
Also to note, the problem was poor workmanship on the part of the so called "professional" installer who replaced my system after a break in.
The insurance company paid them installation, but wouldn't give me the money to install it myself. So, I had to rip everything out and start again.....

yea i just checked all of the above that you mentioned. everything seems ok. I have no idea whether its the amp or the speaker. sounds like the positive and negatives touching, but only does it at low volumes or for split seconds at peak. |

| its ****ed..cuz it'll work for a bit no problem, than out of the blew it will just distort completly, than barely distort, than fine again. Im thinking taking out the speakers and taking them back nd asking for an immediate exchange. Although I did install them, I have never in my life had a problem. So im assuming they are just faulty. |

| turns out both tweeters blew on the rear speakers. I took them back and got new ones. and rewired the amps, speakers, everything just in case. works great now! |

| You should check your gains etc - there is a reason those tweeters blew and if you don't get things set right, or your overdrive them often they will blow again... do that too many times and you may not get warranty anymore which sucks, but it's the user's fault so not much can be done about it...
Just a thought..
