ok so i had a pioneer deh6800 mp in my neon. all is perfect. i'm driving down the road one day and it starts making this really loud high pitch noise out of all 4 speakers. first thing i'm thinking is ground problem. there does not appear to be one, behind the dash anyway. my friend has a pioneer in her sunfire (same plug/wire) so i decided to try it in her car real quick since the plugs were the same. and it worked fine!..so i took her pioneer deck and tried it in my car..and it worked..as if that didn't baffle me enough i can only turn the volume half way up without all 4 speakers crackling hardcore. i ended up keeping her deck in my car but i'm suffering because i can't even turn it up loud enough to hear on the highway ..

anyway sorry for the story, has anyone experienced something similar ? Thanks in advanced

sounds like one of the speakers is shorting to ground try to use the fader and balance control on the deck to get rid if the problem...that will atleast narrow it down to the speaker thats the problem... you will still be able to listen to a pair of speakers out of all 4 at a good volume once u limit the bad speaker... then within reasonable time replace it

thanks for the quick reply, i have tried using the fader/balance no luck they all seem to suffer equally. i should point out the speaker wire on my rear driver side was touching the metal terminal at one point causing NONE of the speakers to work but after i fixed that all speakers worked fine again so i don't *think* it's related
