Mine did the same as you explained. The left channel suddenly became twice as loud as the right channel. I havent tried the amp in a new car, but a previous member told me it might be becuase one of the power supplies has failed?? BTW, i was running an MTX 4002. If your amp has two power supplies I would look into that.

ok so i began my checking, and started by pulling out the rca's from the deck to the amp... the "static cracking" sound was still there on the right side... (that eliminates the deck) now what is really strange is that it seems that when the temp outside drops to a little cooler the loud speaker/static starts again, and once the weather warms up and i fire up the old car, it is back to normal... the static sound sounds like a grounding issue... however its only coming from the right side... next time i happens i will be checking the crossover and the speakerwires... thanx for the help
