My time here at CCA is done, see yall around. The ads and complete whoring out to ebay and "fat loss 4 idiots" have driven me away and I can't imagine I'm the only one.
I'll probably get banned for speaking my mind, but oh well, I wasn't coming back anyway. | lookin at the title of the thread i really thought it was gonna be a suicide note where you tell us that your drive to take your own life has been highly induced by the ads here.

| I'd rather see the Ebay (I'm always ebaying for audio), fat loss 4 idiots (I actually read it, and it reminded me not to each so much, and at the right intervals) ads, and I'd rather see this site get PAID. If you don't want to look at the ad's, somehow, try not to look at them . That Lexus looks sweet.

| See you guys get comedy when you come here too. It's a full package
Seriously though - we pretty much figured on some people freaking out when the ebay stuff went live. No way to avoid it. What has completely impressed me is the SUPPORT that has been shown both in this thread and around the board. That's you guys - the community - and I think we have a very good community.
And I like that Lexus too. dayum! A word of advice though - don't be putting water in yer gas tank

| $0.02 from a non-money-contributing and semi-lurker member.
I couldn't really find the ebay ad's people speak about for quite a while. The other day i noticed the stereo market place and the ebay ad's way down at the bottom. Kinda feel silly for not noticing them, but they're quite out of the way down there.
Apart from that, I generally notice 1 ad at the top, and I see absolutely no problem with it. I don't use the site to it's full potential, nor am I into car audio as much as I used to be, but this place is always good for advice be it car audio or totally unrelated. Time and money seem tohave changd my personal priorities/hobbies.
The ad's personally don't bother me, as I don't really even notice them. The Forum is organized in such a way that it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for and it's not like you're always accidentally clicking on an ad because it keeps changing it's location on the screen.
That being said, I spend about 10h/day (work) on a computer and maybe another 1 or 2 at home checking sports scores and online betting so maybe i'm just accustomed to ad's, but it's not like these are causing you pop-up's.
In the end, if you don't like the ad's, the options for getting rid of them seem fairly clear. Contributing money to the website is just like being a shareholder in a company to me. Contribute a small amount, and you get a small say in what happens. In this case $10 gets you removed ad's. More money likely provides you a little more say in what happens. If you start contriuting $100's or $1000's, i'm sure what you say will be exponentially more meaningful.
But if you want to use the site for free, ebay and adsense are nice enough to subsidize your usage and you don't even need to do anything to prompt this. Seems like a fair trade to me.
Complaining about unobtrusive ad's is like complaining about receiving free beer or pizza. If you don't completely like it, you eat/drink it and smile anyways or worst case scenario, don't have any. You don't actually complain about it, or it won't be free next time.

| New to the thread, but the way I see it, when something is free, you take it as it is, and if you don't like it, then leave.
Here you have an option, donate some money and get no ads, or put up with the ads. Most forums are this way. Some have lower operating costs than others, some have more staff, some have more volunteers that do it out of love, they all vary.
My 2cents. |
