| OK guys and gals, here are the rules for Bass Boxing... let me know what you think.
We've had a few Bass Boxing events at some shows in the U.S. and they have been very successful. At the Bass Boxing event at Spring Break, we had close to 20 competitors and over 3,000 spectators! Everyone had a great time!
IASCA BASS BOXING works on a single elimination format, pitting two competitors against each other until all but two competitors are left for the final match.
The event is designed to combine high SPL numbers with music, showmanship and audience participation.
Each competitor battles against his/her opponent for two rounds. In Round 1, you will be given a specific musical track to play for one minute. The SPL microphone will be positioned in the standard IdBL microphone position and the highest average recorded SPL score during that time will be your score.
In Round 2, you have the choice of playing any musical track you'd like for one minute. While playing the music, you are requested to put on a "show" for the audience, to try to get them to cheer for you. In this round we will be measuring the SPL level of the crowd's response to your "show", so you want to get them to cheer as loud as they can for you. Do a dance, sing along to the song, do somersaults, whatever you like! The louder the audience cheers, the louder your SPL! As with Round 1, the highest average recorded SPL score during the one-minute time limit will be your score for that round, so make it count!
Once the "bout" is over, your highest average recorded SPL scores from both rounds will be added together giving you your total score. The competitor with the highest total score will be the winner!
RULES DETAILS
· Each round will have a duration of one minute.
·
· For Round 1, the microphone will be positioned in the standard IdBL microphone position.
·
· For Round 2, the microphone will be positioned on a microphone stand, 10 feet away from the audience.
·
· For Round 2, the "show" you put on must be done in good taste, with a certain level of discretion. Rude, pornographic or any behaviour that is deemed in poor taste by the judges will not be allowed and could result in disqualification. If you are uncertain whether a part of your "show" is inappropriate or not, please consult with the BASS BOXING judges for verification as to it's usability.
· If a tie occurs, a 3rd round will be added and your SPL will be measured both ways at the same time (as in rounds 1 and 2) using a musical track selected by the judges. The highest generated SPL score in the tiebreaker will be declared the winner of the fight.
· EQUIPMENT FAILURE - Should any competitor experience equipment failure while in the "ring", PRIOR to competing, they will be allowed 2 (two) minutes to repair the problem. If the problem cannot be corrected within the allotted time, it will be considered a KO and the competitor will be "pushed" out of the lane by the referees.
BASS BOXING DIVISIONS
IASCA BASS BOXING divisions are based on standard IdBL divisions. The divisions for BASS BOXING are;
FEATHERWEIGHT (Stock IdBL w/ 8’s, 10’s & 12’s)
LIGHTWEIGHT (Stock IdBL w/15’s & up, Advanced No wall)
MIDDLEWEIGHT (Advanced IdBL)
HEAVYWEIGHT (Ultimate IdBL)
There are no specific cone area classes in BASS BOXING.
Because a competitor can open doors, windows, trunk or whatever they want on the vehicle, it is very similar to an "outlaw" competition. Therefore, SPL levels between competitors in their respective divisions will be very close.
And that's it! It's that easy! As mentioned earlier, the whole idea of IASCA BASS BOXING is to bring music back into SPL competition, involve everyone and make it fun! So come on out, put your BASS BOXING gloves on and have a great time with us!
