World Finals in Canada?

I understand due to the price of fuel and the distance of some shows, it is hard to get everyone to one show. If we want to see a WF in the Toronto area or in Canada period, we need a show where everybody and their moms will attend. If we could show Wayne an event with say 75-100 competitors, I am sure that it would be a good start. I know that we couldn't get the WF here this year however I believe that it would be a good start.

I think that the promoters would have to take their heads out of their asses and put differences aside and work together to make this happen. The committment of competitors would be the most important role. All competitors would have to be there in order to make it work. The GTA would be the best location to make a show this size happen.

Any ideas?...

I say the best way to get people out would be to host a event that has almost all formats. Hate to say it but something like the Kingston show. For getting the most people out that was the show.

If you were to include all formats, dbdrag, iaska, tnespl, cspl and made them all triple pointers, you will get the people out. It would also be very tough to do, but try to squeeze it all in one day.

Yes I did try that. I went all out and bougth big trophies and handed out great prizes only to see 20 competitors. I had more cars at my show in Cambridge in May. I have spoken to Wayne a number of times and I stepped up this year to offer a 3x and a 2x as well as bunch of singles and it seems to me that we have too many multi point DB Drag shows already. Competitors don't feel like they have to attend multiple shows since they have their points after just a the first 3 multis of the year. I enjoy holding events and handing out the big prizes and trophies but you can only lose money for so long before you lose interest.

Don't get me wrong I think it would be a good idea but I feel it is getting harder to attract everyone out. I remember back 7-8 years ago it was hard to get 100 points in a season without being at a show every week.

this applies to a regular event but we are talking about dB Drag World Finals.
you cant integrate other organizations into mix for the World Finals in this instance.
great idea to get various organizations together to help things out but not in instances of WORLD FINALS...

now with regards to have a World Finals location in Canada..more then likely the best bet would be in Ontario since the greatest concentration of competitors is from Ontario and it's the most central area in Canada as well. However let be serious this would only be appealing to a select few people

Lets be serious for a minute however.
take a look at the last couple of years and just how many people even qualified for World Finals.. you can probably count them on two hands... maybe three hands..
Unfortunately it's not a reality that will come to fruition. There is not enough support (manufacturer, competitor and overall) in order to host a World Finals here...

This is all for now.

I average 28-35 competitor's a db drag...we had a double on the same week end as Ontario and had 37 out...honestly we have more competitors, but whatever. I think you would have to select a site like Winnipeg or Kanora, to get everyone out. It is easier of western canada competitors to go to Reno that Toronto. If you want a truely Canadian finals with the most competitors. I had 127 cars at the western canadian finals but that included SQ. Kanora is only 20 hrs from Toronto and 15 hrs from Calgary. I would suggest adding an SQ format from some organization to get the most people out to defer costs.

If Wayne was ever down with a world finals here it would probably be dead smack in the middle of Canada why i say that is because Ontario has the strongest clan of competitors that can just roll down into the USA and compete. For us out West he decided to put them in California so we would have to drive over a day to get to. It would be the same as the guys here wouldnt mind going into the middle of Canada to compete. We do have one of the loudest vehicles in the world here. It would be very nice to have all the Canadians compete under one flag and boost the scene of stereo competition here in Canada but the only thing would be wierd we will be all be in a small city not a populated city like East or West but none the less that would be an awesome Idea as we do have certified judges on our end that are Canadian.

competition scene needs to be spread thru out ontario. then we'll get finals maybe. tell me how many db drags happen north of Barrie, west of Cambridge or east of .......Scarborough? You cant keep having shows in the same place with the same small group of people showing up every single time. That wont get us finals.

it might be bad to say, but if a canadian finals location was more than 9 hours away id just goto indy. It'd be nice to have one yeah, but i cant justify the extra cost of driving 20 hours to compete when i can drive 9 down to indy.
