Gotta agree with Dukk there. If you want power handling, vented is the way to go.

if you want power handling at the tuning freq yes, but above and especially below, sealed will have better power handling, but i am a huge ported fab, ib is a close second

Doh! I forgot where I was, I guess I should have interpreted the question as thus:

"what box do I use to shake my mirrors best" or "I want one note bass, or at least a huge hump between 40-60hz, can you help me"?

My edited response is now "use the biggest box with the biggest slot port you possibly can and be sure to pump as much RAP as you can".

These are generalites of course, but than again whatelse in this thread isn't?

^ Yes Mike that is exactly what I said

Arguing the SQ merits of any enclosure design is futile- keep at it though...

Power handling @ the tunning frequency is exactly what I meant. This would be one of the trick to a good SPL cabinet design.

IB is somthing I wanted to give a try this season. But I just dont think I have the power for it. Seeing as its not all that efficient a design. Chances are I'll be goind sealed for my two Type X's.

136 is impressive to say the least for an IB arrangement. And you say this was accomplished with half of an F1 amp? So thats like 600 watts or so? If you dont mind me asking, what is the sound like? I know you are using a front mounted sub, but if you werent would your SQ drop much? I know that the Type X has a pretty high Qts so IB should be a decent choice for SQ, but I've never actully tried it myself.

Sorry if I'm stealing the post a bit. This is my first post!!!

the bass in my neon is very good, some of the bess deep bass extension that ive ever heard out of 10" woofers. i did 136.9 at 39 hz as wel. i have experimented with all crossover frequncies between 30 and 50 hz and no matter what, the bass at some point will sound like it comes from the back. i have a thoery on this but thats for another thread. if want the bass to sound like it comes from the front you had better put a woofer there.

the preparation that i took in making the ib setup in my car was huge. the materials used and the method in which we did it was very time consuming but in the end i have 3 typex 10" woofer in ib that can modulate you voice at 28hz
