Who has one and what did you do for sub/subs? I put in a single Rockford Fosgate shallow mount 12" DVC as a tempory fix but I am not satisfied with this sub. It provides pretty good bass, but I cannot live with the cone noise this sub generates. I bought a quad cab because I wanted four seats, so plopping a sub box in the seating location won't work for me. There is didly squat for room behind the rear seats and non below them. I had to move the rear seats ahead about an inch just to get the shallow mount sub/box in there. This sub was about the best that I find in a shallow mount at the time. Just curious what others have done as I know that this is a popular truck, based on how many I see on the road. I've got my front stage just how I want it and the amps are well located, just have to figure out the bass now.

Someones gotta have some pics of a sub system in one of these trucks. I'm thinking of moving the rear seats ahead a little more again by modifying the factory seat hinges. I can lengthen the sections that bolt to the floor by welding longer brackets to them and re-drilling the mount holes in the new location. I suspect that I can do this and still retain just enough room for passengers feet in the back floor area and thus make enough room for more box behind the 60/40 split bench. I am hoping to gain enough room to get a pair of decent subs back there (not shallow mounts again either) and still retain the full back seats as well as keeping it hidden. There is just enough room currently under the rear seats for my amps (which is where they are now), although while I am at moving the seats ahead, I also plan to raise them up a little to get some decent cooling to the amps (I will likely fan cool them). If anybody has any better idea's I love to hear them. I know that we have a few really good box builders and installers on here to get some feedback from. This truck has a lot of well insulated open cab space, which believe it not is not a platform for a decent system, aside from not having the room for hidden subs using the factory provided minuscule space. Opinions please.

I would look at two options in your case:

1) Box in the bed with a cut through. The hole doesn't have to be big, 8"x12" is probably lots. Most guys don't have the stones to cut they're truck though so...

2) If it leaves enuf room, pull out your 60 back seat bottom and replace it with a 40 sized one. Build an enclosure/console to fit between the two.

Plan "A" is not an option, as is understandable.

I hadn't thought of plan "B" however. Now I can clearly see an option expanding on that plan and taking it a little further.

Plan "C" - centre console job. You lose the storage but hey, it's for a good cause.

I have seen some jobs behind the back seat but things are pretty tight back there. I have a CC and have the same challenges. I think I will end up tearing out the tool tray under the rear jump seats and make a glass enclosure in it's spot. Was also thinking about tearing the jump seats out altogether, using the flip-up brackets to mount to and I could still flip the enclosure up to get at the tool tray. I hardly ever actually seat people back there but it's still kinda nice to have for an emergency.

^ The Dakota is too narrow for a woofer console between the front buckets (if it has buckets). You're CC is easy - buy an MTX Thunderform. I've installed these and I've built custom and I suggest the Thunderform for ease of installation and good performance. If you need a custom 'glass amp rack for the tool tray area that fits a Punch 40, 100, and 4080 though, let me know. I have one hanging on the wall of my garage.

I was thinking of this post earlier and the OP could also make a custom box that replaces the seat bottom and then mount the factory seat bottoms to the top of it. Lots of work but could be pretty trick when done.

I wish I had the space under the jump seat like you CC guy's, but no such luck in the Quad Cab. I'm thinking about replacing the 60 size (top and bottom) seat with the 40 as suggested and making an "L" shaped box (horizontal and vertical) for a pair of reverse mounted 10's. So much for keeping it inconspicuos huh?

As soon as I get a little time to do some measuring and figuring I will have a closer look at what I can or can't do. I do kind of like the possibily of building the box between the rear seats and maybe facing the motors out, or not, haven't made up my mind just yet. I have never done a reverse mount install yet.

Ya, I've seen those Thunderform enclosures on the net...wasn't sure how they would perform. Some people give them good reviews and some bad. I've thought about buying one just to make up my own mind. You do lose the fun of making your own though. I've also thought about your last suggestion before. That would be kinda cool. I've toyed with the idea about tearing them out completely along with the tool tray and making a sweet glass enclosure with a pair of reverse mounted drivers and some cheesy neon lighting just for good measure.
