Guys I plan on building a ported box for my two Pioneer 12" TS-W1200C's.
I'm gonna need help with programs or something cause I dunno what to use.
Does it matter which way the woofers fire? I think firing up would be neat..
What thickness of MDF(correct material?)should I use? 3/4? What would be better for my subs, slot or round port or does that matter aswell?
I noticed my current box has some sort of black fiberous material that drives me insane every time I pop out a sub, is that recommended for my new box?
I would like a box that if I got new subs, it would work.. that possible?
Also I can't seem to find specs for my woofers, so I'm not quite sure how big of a box I need..
Also, it has to fit in my trunk of my 2000 sunfire sedan.. I might be trading it for a Chevy Silverado, but I'm sure the box will fit in that, and I doubt I will do that.
Anybody steer me in the right direction, or at least gimme a map ? lol. Any programs would be helpful, I guess sketchup/3D Studio Max is no good for box design?

The stiffer the box, the better. This means the thicker the mdf used, the better. With these subs, you should be okay with 1/2 inch mdf.

As for your port type, it depends on what kind of sound you intend to produce. If either is done correctly, they can sound equally good.

The black material you are talking about is filler material. From what I understand, it makes the box sound larger than it is by slowing the waves in the box. It is not required by any means in a sub box, but try your new box with and without it to see what you prefer.

If space is a concern, you may want to consider a sealed box.

Here are some specs I found on your sub:

Specifications:
• Maximum power: 800W
• Normal rated power of entrance: 200W
• Cone of 30cm Ø without sewing, in IMPP with foam, metallic covering and butyl rubber edge
• Integrated conic cupolas in the cone (Bass Bullets)
• Great strontium magnet
• Union of polar region projected and ventilated for a symmetrical distribution of the magnetic flow for a distortion lower and improved linearity
• Conex shock absorber of great diameter with integrated lead wires
Specifications
TS-W1200C:
- Frequency response: 15 - 2000Hz
- Frequency of minimum resonance (FS): 25Hz
- QTS:0,39
- VAS (Litres): 125,14
- Sensitivity (1W/1m): 92dB
- Recommended Closed box (Liters ±10%): 31

Not sure what else to tell you. Good luck. Have fun.

Yea thanks for that. Thats gonna help me out a bit.
I have a sealed box now. It doesn't matter to me if I take up the whole trunk.
I tend to like the bass that makes everything shake.. so maybe some kinda SPL box or something.. I might draw up a box in sketchup or something.

Side note..If I trade the sunfire for the Silverado, I'll have to do something with the box.. cause I found out its a regular cab but it does have two rockford 10's and two amps.. so maybe I could stuff 2 pioneer 12's, and two 10's in there somewhere.. lol That would be loud..
