allright well i want to try out a ported box this time but dont know how to get started

ill have the max dimentions of the trunk by tomorow night... i think it was 50inch wide by 15inch deep by 13 to 15 in high. will confirm tomorow

http://www.massiveaudio.com/home/index.php?content=php/product&id=32

the manual is the pdf in the bottom right

i would like it tuned at around 35hz to get good sound and some spl... not sure what i would need to do to hit 130db but would be nice so any tips would be great

anyone???? i had the right dimentions

all i need is for someone to help me out with the tuning part .. it recomends a 1.5cf each with a flared port at 4"x 9" tuned at 28hz but is that to low if i want to go louder plus how would one port per sub sound?? the thing i dont want is port noise.

Some comments:

1. I'm able to hit 139dB with two Shiva 12" subs, each in 1 cu.ft. sealed, and driven by 250W RMS. If 130dB is your goal, you should be able to easily exceed that with those subs in vented enclosures.

2. The Qts for that sub is a bit high IMO for a vented box, but if that's what you want to do with it...

4. The manufacturer recommends 2 cu.ft. NET per sub. Your box will have to be a bit bigger than this, to compensate for the space taken up by the sub and the vents.

5. One 4" flared vent should work fine, once you're not shooting for that extra dB or so for a high-SPL setup.

6. Massive Audio's recommendations for port length don't appear to be right. To tune a 2 cu.ft. box to 28 Hz with a 4" port, the port will have to be a bit over 18" long. If the port is 9" long, Fb will work out to around 38 Hz. I suggest going with a longer port - you'll get a smoother bass response, better power handling at lower frequencies and you should still be able to hit that 130dB SPL target.

really im just looking at some options in a box right now i have my sealed planned out and i wanted to plan out a ported box... right now i tried out a slot port tuned to 28.86hz in a L shape. looks ok to me but im still not sure how to go ahead with it. i was thinking of getting some flared ports but i dont know where to get some up here in timmins erea

p.s. 130 with those subs seems easy myself also but what i really like is those cars that you have trouble breathing in lol not sure how loud that has to be but would be nice

thanks brian for the info
