ok so heres what i'm trying to figure out here, i want to make the box as smooth as possible inside, i sanded and resined the box several times to make it smoth i put in angles and bondo in the port corner and smoothed it, but i don't kno what to do for the sub holes to the side of the boxi was thinkin of using stretch cloth, resin bondo and then something like beach sand (don deezy gave me the idea... kinda) or like a sand or saw dust and resin combo, it doesn't really matter how long this takes to do i just need to figure something out fast

just remember that fiberglass is not as acoustically dead as MDF...

personally I would add a layer of polyfill to the interior panels

i don't have any pics at the moment but i mean like between the hole for the sub to mount and the side wall (inside the box) there is an empty space in the corners and i want to fill it and make it smooth but i can't think of a good way to do it... the fibre glass idea was like a skin to go over top the gap with something in behind it to make it solid and bondo over top

why are you going for a smooth box inside ?
do a test after your box ig done and that is
do a db test as the box is then open it up add polyfill (not drywall type to the sides of the box )
see what hit the hardest the box must be in the same place

around the port is all you will need as the rest of the box can be any shape or form and there is no diff between them.The smothing is for port noise nothing more.Doing the rest of the box is pointless and is like doing so to a sealed box.Only exception is a TL box and from the design most of this is done before the end box.TL boxes are made to smooth the port and echo the port freq. making it louder.

Bose wave glide is a good example.3" speakers sound huge for the size of driver.

ya but if the inside of the box is all nice and smooth then there is less resistence in the air flow makin the box slightly louder in the long run why do u think most spl boxes have some sort of angle or round in the corners, means better air flow better air flow might not mean anything to th guys doin this for street bass but the spl guys it could mean a win or a loose and this is an spl box now... anybody have any actually oppinions that could help... at all

use trim you can find it in the shape you need to get that extra 0.0000000001db

spl has nothing to do with air flow, its all about air pressure

ya the most he will do is make his box smaller.But hey let him try as no TL will pick up the gain if any he will gain but if it does the reverse then he will see it for sure on the TL.



Like I said try it and just use oak trim from a home building center you can find it is fair sizes to do what you want and the will be little smoothing after but it will let you do what you want.Or if you have the goods use a router table and make your own.

I think you best to saty with what me and Lessy are said and just smoth the port for less noise and keep the inside of the box with as much air space as possable after your bracing.


If you want loud do what we did to a van use concrete for the box where you can.Heavy but wow is it loud LOL why you ask? simple no pressure loss!!!
