i found these pictures and would like to copy this guy (he has the exact same trunk as me). Notice the huge bump where the spare is. I would like to leave this alone. Instead of in just the one corner i would have 12s in both corners. And mount the amp on the back of the backseats.
Would this work?
Sound alright?
Cost a fortune to get done?

Thanks

Yes it will work.
With the right woofer it will sound fine.
What's a fortune? I would venture you're looking at about $300 a side (maybe more) at many shops.

^ agreed............. or build it yourself. The finish on those pictured looks like a totally DIY-er job. Pretty easy to accomplish. $140 plus your time and some skillz

i talked to futureshop; they said $300 a side with bondo over the fibreglass and painted (or carpet).
hmmm you guys are smart...
and ya alpha i would have to either keep my trunk clean or put some grills to protect the subs

definitly try and do it urself, be alot cheaper

heres some pics of my custom door panels, mgiht give u some ideas to make ur side panel boxes
cut my rings for my 6.5s and little dowels to hold the ring in place( i used hotglue to place them)

stretched a old shirt over top and hot glued on the back of the door panel(stretch as tight as possible)

soaked it in resin(no fibreglass on the first coat)

sanded it

for some reason i cant find any pics of the fibreglass on them so here tehy are starting to get smoothed out

and i never finshed them as i got new black door panels, might try something different when i get the car back on the road

found some pics of my spare tirewell box aswell

lay tinfoil down and tape off all seems, i used duct tape but if ur going ontop of carpet it will leave some sticky residue left on it(this will be the back of the box)

put down a couple layers of fibreglass, once u get 2-3 layers thick you should be able to pop it out of the car and add more layers to it on a work bench or something(alot easier then doing it in the trunk)

this is where you would setup your MDF ring and dowels to mount ur sub, i wasnt going this route so i did i added a thin MDF boarder to it which was about 1.5 inches wide(hard to tell in the pics) and jsut simply mounted a MDF sheet ontop

afer you add the MDF rings/dowels you will follow the steps i posted above with the cloth etc

Is that a Honda Del Sol trunk? Also, is it hard to build a ported fiberglass box?

not trying to be a jerk...... but seriously pay someone to do it. if you havent played with resins before and dont know how to make proper moulds and also what relese agents to use your going to have a hell of a time removing the glass from the trunk area, my oppinion on the whole situation is there are proper people for every job. And honestly i wouldent let a box store do fiberglessing in anything at all go talk to a specialty shop thats local to ya, dont expect them to give up there secrets so you can have a cheep box. ask and see what something like that should cost and trust me its going to be more then 300 a side. We have seen some great fiberglass loking things come from many different places. some use chichen mesh and paper mashe.... some will just resin some cloth and put filler on it to smooth it out. all cheep ways that will give you a poorly performing product . Just my two cents !
