On the SQ side

Steve Brackett took 1st in Rookie
I took 4th in rookie
jason, brad and todd got hosed from what i hear
mike p took 1st i think in street

It was the most unorganized show I have been to and IASCA really has forgot about its members. The banquet was a cluster*&^%. People didnt get seating and some ate standing up. Total nightmare from start to finish

For the most part things went according to schedule. There were a few issues with some of the classes. But all was worked out. Some things got behind but it doesn't help when competitors lock the rta mic, stand and cord in their cars for two hours.LoL Ill have to agree with mdx man about the banquet. All and all most people went away happy. But there will always be the few that don't.
Not a great Canadian turn out as in years past.
Maybe the time of year.Just remember this was the first unified finals and Iasca and Meca will have issues to work out.But in the same light we have to start somewhere and if we focus on the positive and not the negative it can only get better.Be thankful that these to orgs came together to give us a place to play.

easy now on the locked car issue and shawn was able to keep going with SPL

But after what I saw this past weekend I will not be returning to IASCA next year as the organization is unorgranized and it seems there were far worse judging errors in other classes

Im going to try either MECA or USACi next year not sure which. Probably MECA as JohnVroom and I talked and it seems to be a better fit. But if MECA continues down the road following IASCA's lead they will no doubt end up in the same situation.

LOL. Defro nailed that one. Try USACi. Cheer us on this weekend.

I enjoyed competing in MECA a lot it is very easy going, relatively inexpensive and emphasizes fun and fairness. I also did USACi this year and enjoyed it, there were some screw-ups with USACi but at the end of the year I got my finals invite, the screw-ups were made right, and that made everything OK. It is the Regional leadership that makes it good or bad in USACi or MECA or IASCA.

There were screw-ups at finals (some MECA, some IASCA, some Hyatt, some convention center, some competitor, some judge) but frankly aren’t they to be expected? That was one packed building... how many competitors were there? I heard (rumor mill) 300 to 500? I thought there was a lot of common ground but there is currently no format sharing between MECA and IASCA or USACi.

I enjoyed the IASCA crowd very much at finals… loved Paul P’s version of Oh Canada… glad I didn’t stay at the Hyatt … Some folks just look good in plastic wrap… wish I could have spent more time socializing.

Should there be a common SQ and / or even SPL format? My concept is to qualify at your sanctioning bodies World Finals and compete at Spring break? The competition incorporate SQ, RTA/ SPL runs (a little USACi/IASCA/MECA element).

Best of luck in KC guys I hope Team Canada brings it home!

I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

IASCA for the most part is a good organization. It's been around for a long time and taken a lot of sh!t over the years. It's pretty hard when it has such a huge following to keep everyone happy and smiling. There will ALWAYS be the whiners and complainers that are just not happy about anything and the organization will usually monkey up something somewhere. These things are to be expected with an international organization that is still growing and covers so much ground.

The Canadian IASCA Guru guy, Moe, is working extremely hard and investing a lot of time and effort as well as cash from what I understand. I support what he's trying to do and think IASCA in Canada is a great thing for everyone to support. But if you don't like it, there are other organizations to jump into. Just don't be surprised if they also start having the same or similar issues down the road. Remember, nothing is perfect.
