Looking for Shallow mount Subs

Hi I'm new here and I need to find some bass for my 85 Toyota Pickup Regular cab. I've been looking around and so far (with my very little experience) Power Acoustics STW-12 is the best one I've seen. When I look at subs I mainly keep in mind RMS. I listen to a lot of Rap so I figure a ported box will be the best option. As I said before I am very inexperienced with car audio and would appreciate your input. So if two good quality 8'' sub would sound better than a 12 let me know. I don't really want to go cheap on this, so middle or top of the line stuff is what I'm looking for. Also I will need an amp to match my sub so if you have any ideas I'm all ears. Thanks for your help

Power accoustic is generaly regarded as junk.

Most brands cary a good shallow mount anyway, strange that you only found the PA offering. Pioneer, JL, kicker, earthquake, tang band, element design, blaupunkt all make one and that's just to name a few.

RMS should not be your deterniming factor, since you don't have much room, yous hould be looking at mouting depth and recommended box volume.

Oh ok, so I should be looking at mounting depth and box sizes so I can get the best sound out of the sub I buy, right? And I have looked at few other shallows but it seemed to me like the PA was the best (I guess not). I think I'll look at what the other brands you have posted are offering.

i have two 10" kicker cvt's (shallow mounts). req'd volume is .8 cuft and i am running 2 of them in a 1.3 cuft box....a little below whats needed. a new box is already under construction and will have 1.8 cuft. they are a pretty decent sub considering my application only allows for 4" mounting depth. i picked them up for ~$300/pair.
i heard the JL TW5 last week...it's an unreal sounding shallow mount. but the setup was the TW5 ($699) + JL 500/1 ($689)...$1400 is just a bit too much for me.....

There's a seller on eBay name hifisoundconnection who sells the Kicker CVT 10" with the Kicker enclosure for DAMN cheap ($105US + $30US shipping). The price and even the shipping was cheap enough to my Canadian address that I ended up buying mine from them.

The sub, btw, is great. The box is short and thin so it fits standing up up against the side of a trunk to stay out of the way, and I have no doubt that it would fit perfectly into a truck. Plus, is thumps. I read a lot of reviews for shallow mount subs and over all the Kicker CVT was the most praised out of all of them.

Yea, if money is not an issue... get the JL tw5. Mad nice! Im running 2 clarion shallows.... the second shallowest sub out there that will actually handle 300 rms. I thought 1 was enoungh in my ranger.... but 2 is pretty decent man. One behind each seat and amp in middle. Checkem out. Also.... i was impressed with the kenwoods for the price. Check them 2. Get them in right box size and get2 going, Mad sick.
