| A class D and a class A/B amp can have the same number of output or power supply devices. The only thing that differentiates them is switching frequency. Class D is into the high kHz to MHz range, where class A/B is not.
At lower power levels, class D has no real benefits over class A/B, so no need to use those expensive FETs for class D.
You can't tell by the specs, but like said above, the effeciency would give it away. You have to go by the manufacturer on this one. |
