the 2 type r's will go louder if thats what you are looking for, and if thats not what you are looking for then both will sound very good in the right box but the jl is a marginally better woofer.

Will, post a thread on www.elitecaraudio.com. I have a feeling you will get more responses there. My personal feeling is that the W6v2 stomps all over the Type Rs in every aspect. I'm sure many others will agree.

My opinion might come off as a bit biased though since I am selling a W6v2.

The JL is a nicer sub... but having 2 Rs would be better IMO...

The Type Rs will get louder because there is double the cone area with 2 subs, but the JL will sound much better IMO, and take up a lot less space I might add

both are great sounding woofers if sq is your primary objective, type r's for some reason take a ****kicking on this site. you also have to remeber that a type r is around 200$ and i think the jl is near double that. ask the people here that responded if they have had the chance to use both in a sq oriented system and litened to them. i have, and both were very good sounding woofers and would have a tough time choosing between the 2

Are you referring to the old W6 or the new W6v2, as you seem to have the pricing mixed up somewhat?

The W6v2 sounds the same as the W7 up to 500W. Plus, the W6v2 has a very similar build quality to that of the W7. Excellent quality

I have seen many negative posts around the forums about the build quality of the Type Rs, yet I don't recall ever seeing one about the W6v2, or the old W6 for that matter.

so youve never heard both in a proper sq setup, yet feel you are qualified to make a recommendation based on other peoples opinions. what were the specific build quality issues that youve heard. im not a huge alpine woofer fanatic, but like to call people on their "opinions" and how they developed their opinion
