Whats the deal with subs in an Isobarik configuration? I havn't yet seen anybody use them at all. I know you can get away with using a box half the size, in lieu of doubling the power going to the subs. But is there any spl gains? any SQ gains....what gives?

An isobaric pair of woofers will use approximately half the volume of a single driver. So this allows you to halve your box size or get deeper response from a given box size.

They used to be popular 10+years ago when a 10 wanted 2cuft to work really well. Now that you can fit 3 10s into 2cuft the isobaric design isn't so attractive

you dont gain output but what you do gain is 2 magnets, 2 suspensions etc worknig together to control excursion etc and keep the woofers more linear. the best sounding bass ive ever heard in a vehicle was 4 10" woofers in isobarik. i am a big fan of iso but can be impractical with deep woofers and you get only 1 woofers worth of output if thats a big thing for you iso may not be the best bet
