Nope, I'm not suggesting you get 8's. I'm merely suggesting that you listen to them first, before buying 10's or 12's. As for the 150 over RMS, I don't imagine it'd be that big a deal. Especially because of the fact that its the L7's, and because you'd still be well under the MAX. So the 1500.1 would work, with a pair of 10's. Probably wouldn't suggest that amp for a pair of 8's though. The 1000 would be best for them...
If you couldn't tell much of a difference between the two 10's on the 1500, and two 8's on the 1000. I'd suggest you get the 8's. Simply because you wouldn't have to spend as much money. If the 10's with the 1500 are more pleasing to your ear, then that would be the way to go. I think most of us newbies are a little apprehensive when it comes to the 8" subwoofers. But they make them for a reason. And Kicker even makes it for their top-tier woofer...
This is like the blind leading the blind.

LOL
Haz, please do yourself a favor, and wait for more people to have more input. Like I said, I'm just starting to figure this stuff out myself. I'm hoping that if people know that what I'm suggesting is incorrect, they'll have the decency to correct
me, on
your behalf.
For starters, find a shop that'll let you listen to each setup.
Also, a quote from the KICKER users manuals for the 1000,1500, and 2500 amps...
"We recommend an alternator with a minimum 140 ampere output capacity, at least one extra battery with 50" of the amplifier, an extra fuse located within 18" of the extra battery, all power and ground feeds to be as short as possible, and use 12, 10 or 8 gauge speaker wire."
