I'm planning on setting up with 2 kicker solo-baric L7 10" and a kicker zx2500.1 amp. I'm just woundering if the 10" would be ok or should i go with 12"... yes i know 12's pound more... but i'm looking for a nice clear sound. I just want to make sure i'm not underpowering or overpowering anything.

Thx

... i'm starting to think about everything now... would it be better to run a zx1500.1 amp and the 10's... or would things still be clear with the zx2500.1 and the 10's or 12's?

... i'm not going to have the room for a 15... unless i go with one 15... and that's still to much... i only have a hyundai accent hatchback... and i still want to be able to put things in the back... i'm looking at the zx2500.1 and 2 L7 10".
I just wanted someone else's opinion

I would think that two 10"s would do the trick. You'll need to get a pair of 2 ohm DVC subwoofers, and to wire them in series to put a 4 ohm load on the amp. Then, the amp, will output 625W to each woofer.
http://www.kicker.com/06/tech-support/manuals/manuals/2008/2008%20ZX%201000%201500%202500-1%20e01%20web.pdf

I'm thinking now, after looking at the specs on the Kicker amps, that the zx2500.1 is just too much.

You see, you could get the zx1000.1, with two 4 ohm DVC models and wire them in parallel. With this setup you'd end up putting 500watts to each woofer.

Find out what difference in price is between the 2500 and 1000. For the sake of 250W, it might be more cost effective to get the 1000. See if you can get a shop to hook up each setup separately, and have a listen. Maybe the 2500 would sound better. I don't know.

STOP. First figure out if your tiny little alternator is going to be able to provide enough jam to operate the system...... good way to waste money otherwise....

Too late to edit:

Holy-moly! The 2500 model is substantially more money that the 1000. Like $400 more. And that's on American "discount" sites. Can't imagine what you'd pay for this unit from an audio shop in Ontario. I highly recommend that you get the 1000, and wire the subs up in parallel so they receive 500W each.
If you're unsure of how I'm getting the wattage values, let me know, and I'll explain. Two weeks ago I would have had absolutely no idea what I am talking about right now...

What about a pair of 8" L7's? I think you should have a listen to a pair of these, if possible. Considering you have an Accent (I have an '02 Elantra) (had a '01 Accent GSi) you might value the space you'll save with two 8" in a smaller enclosure. And a pair of 8" could be powered well with the zx1000.1.

In closing.... a pair of 10" L7s, with the zx2500.1 would run you upwards of $1500. A pair of 8" L7s, with the zx1000.1 would run you somewhere around $1000. Don't quote me on that!!! Find out for yourself. But if I was going to spend that much on an amp and two subs, I'd damned-well make sure they were going to be a lot better than the other configuration.

... ok... but why just the zx1000.1 why not the zx1500.1 then since the peak of the L7 8's is 900W... there would be 750W going to each sub. closer to the peak? and then would the L7 8's be clearer sounding then the 10's? I know there isn't a whole lot of room in my trunk. not to worried... just at long as it's not taking up the whole trunk and weighs 300LBs...
And about this alternater situation... i have some friends that can help me out on that end... i could end up setting up a battery in the back that's connected up the alternater so instead of one battery being used fur car and stereo, one for car... one for stereo... and then wouldn't have to worry about such a long power cord, etc...
I did take physics, i did learn something... even though i failed that grade 11 physics class with a 15%
And when I'm back in the working field after school, I'll be back to my working 2 jobs and not home very often making $2000-$3000 a month at start... depends on where school takes me. so money isn't to much of an obsticle.
