Hi There,

Slim here. K, seeing that I know how to fix a multi-million dollar jet..i'm a total retard when it comes to Car Audio.

I have a 2009 Ford Ranger Sport 4x4, and want to upgrade the stereo in it.

-Head unit
-6x8 speakers (times 4)
-Amp
-Either 2 x 10's or 2 x 12's

Now i'm not looking for TOP of the line, however i am looking for awesome.

any of you have any suggestions (other then "get rid of the ford")..

Greatly Appreciated, and thanks in advance.

lol HU go to a shop and check shit out:P
6x8 scrap those and go with 61/2" instead and make a MDF 6x8 to 6 1/2 plate or buy one
amp well 4 channel would be nice. anything from 50 to 100x4 please dont go to cheap lol
i would go 2 12's running 1000watts rms. well 800 to 1000watts id say.

what shop is available to you?? whats the brands they carry?

there goes my suggestion

but yea, if u can go to a shop and listen to some stuff and check stuff out, itd help u out a fair bit.

personally i just got an alpine 9886 headunit and love it, fairly cheap new, and tonnes of features... but its all personal prefferance.

unfortunatly i had a grand marquis, had 6x8's in the front, made plates for 6.5's, highly sugested.

u might want to look at 2 amp, 4 channel and a mono block...depending how loud u want ur music

and as for amps, look at some stuff see what u like apearance wise, and figure out if u wanna buy new or used, just about anything will work for subs, its a lot to do with the box, either make or have made a good, quality box, and itll help just about anything be better.

hopefully this helps a bit

Drop in to see the SARTECH's and ask for Chris MacIntrye. He was one of my part timers here and took a posting in Cold Lake 4 months ago. This way you can have some great hands on expertise and we can ensure that you are getting the products you need. Kick him the butt for me and tell him that Windmill had his bed.

He or you can call me at my shop or on my cell pretty much any time to discuss what it is you should be looking for.

What's your goals with the sound system. it's easy to name parts and throw numbers at you but it's more important to get you what you're looking for.

what kind of music you listen to most.? what features in a head unit are important to you. just want something loud that sound spretty good, or you want to get into your truck every day and say "wow" this f&%*ing rocks?

okay groovy.

Head unit: Picky any quality brand name head unit.

Speakers: Infinity REF6820CS for the front and REF6822CF's for the back. Good sounding very easy to find speakers that play great with metalheads at a great price.

Subs. a pair of good 12's like alpine type-R's or similar in a sealed box.

at 600Wrms mono amp for the subs and decent 4ch amp for the mids and you'll be a happy dood.

Of course more power and better speakers is always an option, but I'm pretty sure you'd be really hapy with that.

What i did with my ranger was 2 channel amp and components in front. Rear speakers just run off your deck for fill... its not like youll be listening to music back there too often. I actaully dont even have rear speakers now. A good set of componenents will be greatly appreciated by your ears.
