just wonderin on this. i heard that in-dash dvd players have rca's connecting the unit, but i dont know if a mp3 cd changer can? see i have a pioneer head unit, please dont say buy a new deck, i dont wanna yet,

and i want to hook up a non-pioneer cd changer with rca jacks. i have a pioneer adapter cable that plugs into the back of my deck. heres a link:

[img=http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/7215/pioneeer5pr.th.jpg]
,
and enables me to have another set of rca outputs to connect another piece of equipment to the deck using the "Aux" feature of the deck. since a non-pioneer changer wont have the same cables as a pioneer deck does, i was wondering if there was a mp3 cd changer that can be connected via rca cables instead of the normal IP-bus cable ???

thx

It should work, but you will need a changer like this, with an external controller as you cannot control it directly from your deck like you could with a poineer changer. Not this exact changer, but a changer with the external controller. Why not just buy a pioneer changer that you can connect to the ip-Bus?

haha, i was looking at that EXACT one yesterday. but it uses RF connection, which i assume plays thru ur antenna. i kinda want a changer that plays mp3 disk and that can be directly connected to the deck thru rca cables. i heard that "RF" and FM modulated" has sound problems. i just want a changer that plays cd's like a deck would, so i can expect the same type of sound

If you can't tell the difference between mp3 and CD you probably won't notice mp3 via RF mod.

bear with me, but i have an idea and wondering if it may work. now i know its just easiest to buy an mp3 deck, but i was thinking it MAY be possible if i did it like this:

1. first, the pioneer adapter, this one : [img=http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/7215/pioneeer5pr.th.jpg]
that connects to the back of my non-mp3 pionner deck and enables me to run a set of rca outputs for "Aux" mode, will be connected to the head unit.

2. then run MALE-to-MALE rca jacks from that pioneer adapter, all the way to the back of my trunk where the mp3 cd changer is mounted.

3. the mp3 cd changer will be just a regular model that has a cd controller which i will mount up front near the dash to control disks , since the pioneer deck cant do it since its not the same brand. now the mp3 cd changer, will not be an "FM modulated OR RF control" style. just a basic regular unit unit, just as if you were to hook it up directly to the same brand head unit.

4. now here is the tricky question that im not sure about 100%. after running the rca's back to trunk, how can i connect rca's to the mp3 cd changer that is not even a pioneer changer?? well, i though of it this way.

on the cd changer side, you must plug in a cable as if you were running it all the way up to the front correct? BUT, what if i used that same kind of adapter that i used on the pioneer side, EXCEPT, it would be that particular cd changer brand adapter, not a pioneer one. coz the pioneer one would have the same plug type and therefore couldnt connect a pioneer one in the changer. then plug the other end of rca's into the cd changer adapter.

in the end, i would have to buy a cd changer, one pioneer adapter like in the upper link, AND another adapter like the pioneer, BUT a different brand.

what do u guys think? would it work possibly??

Why dont you just get a portable mp3 player?

Much easier cheaper and versatile.
