Was visiting friends today when they pulled out an old set of Pioneer 6X9 coaxials - TS-6905 models. They have a treated cloth underslung surround (red!), and the tweet was separated from the woof by a light red foam - never seen anything like it. And they were still in good shape, no rips or tears. Probably 20-25yrs old.

So I went home and dug in the shed and pulled out my old (gotta be 25yrs) Pioneer TS 694 6X9 coaxes. Again an underslung cloth treated surround (yellow!); tweet post mounted, 10wrms, 25wmax. Still in good shape!

Gonna have to find time to hook these up and see how they sound. I remember my 694's kicked ass in my '72 Vega coupe

Anybody else stumble upon some real old stuff??

Gene

I always buy older stuff (mid-90s mostly) in good condition because it's cheap as hell ...

Hmm, I had Pioneer TS-A6905 speakers and they had cloth surrounds but not red, and they were 3-way speakers...and probably from the early 90's

I love my old skool equipment, I had a Kicker Solo-C 12", Pioneer GM-H200 (8-10 years old at least and hit 143.3dB), had an Alpine 3526 4-ch amp, Coustic CD-3 cd player (1990, and it's still kickin!), and an old (I think '95) Orion Cobalt 10"
Not as old as the speakers you mentioned but still cool

I have Pioneer dual cone 6.5s from the early 80s.

And I have the infamous pioneer 4 way 6x9s with sruare ribbon tweeters.

I love old pioneer gear.

Also have an 80x1 pioneer amp from 94.

When I bought my Kenwood amp the seller threw in two older Pioneer amps he had laying around to close the deal ($50 ).
Gave me a GX-324 which I sold for $50 and an old GM-H50 which I have never hooked up. I took it apart and it's a tank inside! Looks OK but I'll likely just let it sit in the garage. Cool oldschool amp.

From Tweek:
"Hmm, I had Pioneer TS-A6905 speakers and they had cloth surrounds but not red, and they were 3-way speakers...and probably from the early 90's"

I took the model# from the grille. The back of the magnet only had some numbers printed. They were sure the grilles were for those speakers, so I went with it. I could be wrong though.

Anybody recognize the red cloth surround, and red painted steel basket? Very old, not 90's for sure. More like 70's.

Gene.

Would you possibly sell the GM H50?

I collect old car audio equipment as a hobby.
