Doors !!- or at least thats what I thought you were trying to do - use the stock locations !! You can place the tweeter with the mid, in the door itself or up in the dash or a-pillars - depends on what speakers your'e planning on using.
Some tweeters will tear your face off if you don't place them correctly - even with attenuation on the x-overs. Where at all possible, its better to place the tweeter as close to the mid as possible. kick pods work nicely when done correctly. But it takes a bit of work/time - who's doing your install ??

Agree with hardwrkr - plastic adaptor plates bite !!

No need to yell. If you read the starte I said that I will be adding kick panels later so wondering what was good to install in the factory spots to compliment these. Hardwrkr suggested mid's

Believe me, if I was yelling............. !!

Just kidding ! Why not wait until you can afford to do the kick panels, rather than "nig-rig" something to tide you over. Save your dough.....unless the stock speakers are just driving you nuts!

Are you using an amp on these speakers, or deck power ??

using deck power. I want to do the kicks but won't be right away. Even when I get the kick panels are you saying just to use those only? I thought the kicks with a combination with the doors would be best? I wanted to do the doors now and have something ready for when I do the kicks

Well, because you're only using deck power, I would either suggest using an inexpensice set of components (one's that are efficient enough to sound good off of deck power)that will work good off deck power. We have some Phoenix Gold Octane "r" 6½ components that will sound very good off of your deck power. They are on sale too (dont want to mention prices, and piss off other stores)(i'll send you a pm). Milton, one of our sales guys has them in his Sunfire that had stock 4x6 speakers too. His system sounds pretty damn good for what it is, and all we did was build him some basic door plates to accomodate the 6½" drivers, he mounted his tweeters in the a-pillars.
I would suggest coming down to the store, but being your'e in Toronto - it would be one hell of a drive !!
There is nothing wrong with using both locations, but sometimes, less is better. You can get into phasing problems with too many speakers.
Suggest calling a well reputed store in your area and get them to build them for you, or do it yourself (a little bit of MDF and some elbow grease !!)

to sum up what I was thinking.. get a component set like Gmoney suggests... when you go to buy kicks, get a similar (identical would be good) speaker and put it in the kick on the crossover for the door speaker/tweeter... now run the door speaker as midbass only... either off your deck with another passive filter or get an amp...

Either that or just run a component set in the door and move it to kicks when you can... this might be the easiest...

sorry did not read your post g-money before replying. So just kicks would do me fine then? I am trying to get my head around all the different speakers. I thought that the kicks would give me the midrange and the doors i could get some midbass. I have an amp (pioneer premier) that I will be using eventually. I have not decided what setup to go with though. My orginal thought was one in each door then two kickpanels with tweets. Is that too much? What is the best way to go? just the kicks? what about midbass. As you can see I am fairly new to this and trying to get a feel.

Go with the best comp set you can afford and give them lots of power. Underpowering the comps may leave you wanting more midbass so power them effectively and go from there.
If you still find you are lacking some midbass then look into adding a dedicated midbass. You can add an identical mid like the one used in the cop set or pick from a good selection of specialty midbass.
If you are going to run kicks then put the comp set in there and if needed, a midbass in the door.
Every speaker is different and while some comps may have tons of midbass output others will have very little. Choose the correct ones and you should be fine. I like a good strong midbass punch and I have tons with a single 6.5" in each door.
