Ok i bought a deck of my buddy it was brand new and sealed in box and eveything so i installed it and nothing would turn on so i flipped down the face and put a cd in and the auto feed pulled it in and the green light on the eject button lit up but the face plate it self wouldnt do anything so i tryed all differant things for house red the manual over and over agasin trying to figure out wtf is wrong then i noticed that the model on the back wus Deh 34 and the model on the faceplate said Deh-p3300 anyways i looked and my other pioneer deck and those models bothed matched so i figured this was the problem. if anyone can help me with this problem it would be great i mean i spent 150 on this thing and now i cant even take it back is this pioneers fault or????

sounds like you got hosed timmy. i could be wrong but i dont think i've ever heard of pioneer packaging headunits with a faceplate from a different model. so it definatley wouldn't have been a new in box unit. but probably a new out of someones car and then oh crap we forgot a face plate so a new out of someones car faceplate. for 150 bucks you could buy a new pioneer pretty much from fs.

There is no way it was brand new sealed in the box, those two models are a year apart. One thing to check is if you have power on the red accessory wire, what you describe could be causing that problem, but probably is an incompatibilty between deck and faceplate.

nah i used one of those 12v+ testers i have all the powere needed i just gotta get the right faceplate.

It doesn't work because the faceplate & chassis are completely different models. This could not have been "new" & "sealed in the box" as Dereck stated above, the DEH-34 & DEH-P3300 are a year apart.
If he is in fact your "buddy", I would suggest that you give it back to him & get your money back & get something new. As Merlin mentioned above, your could get a brand new Pioneer DEH-2700 for about $149.

well thanks boiz turns out my buddy had a the deh p3300 chassis in his car with the deh 34 faceplate and it wuz working now that we traded mine now works too. but how is it that the the newer faceplate works with older chassis but older face plate does not work with new chassis.

Typically newer products are based on the ones they replace.
Therefore, the DEH-34 face worked on the DEH-P3300 chassis but not the other way around doesn't surpries me that much.
