Having been thoroughly disgusted by the lack of decent judging, organization or professionalism in the IASCA events held in China over the past year, I'd like to hear from those of you with similar concerns.
Is MECA a decent organization? Along with other industry professionals in Southern China, I'm interested in knowing what sort of reputation MECA has earned since their inception.
The good, the bad and the ugly, if you please....................

I really enjoy the USACi format, I do not know much about MECA...good or bad. They are not popular in Canada.

i believe(not sure) that it is a south western USA based sanction. and very rapidly expanding(in the south). and that they have a tonne of categories. other than that i have not been able to be a part of any of thier shows other than thier finals 2 years ago when thier finals was united with iasca. Iwas assisting with hudging so i didnt get a chance to see thier show section.

Actually, They are based in Tennessee. Meca is different from the rest. Is MECA worthwhile? It is up to the Individual. You will have to attend to a show to see if you like it. They have a different format. They have 3.8 million classes...lol. If you are interested to find out, I recommend that you attend one of their shows.

There is not a MECA presence in Canada, they had an event director in Canada but well, the timing was bad. So this is probably a tough forum for an opinion.

I am the only person on this forum truely familiar with MECA (I think) since I am a MECA member. I have also done USACi in recent years and other organizations pre-IASCA. I am biased in favor of MECA, as I am a judge and soon an Event Director.

As an organization it is top notch. On the SQ side they have the finest SQ based program available, though I would never say anything negative about IASCA or USACi programs (they are very good too). The MECA SPL program is gaining in popularity and is very much worth consideration. The organization is relatively new but is as large as 'the big boys'. Frankly look over the rules of each organization and you will find each has positive points. MECA's US business model deals with lots of small shows, and a growing customer base. That seems to be consistant, an annual 10% growth rate in competitors.

MECA's greatest strength and biggest liability is that the competitors have the ability to change the rulebook (within reason) after each season. Not everyone likes change (especially when they are winning).

www.mecacaraudio.com is the meca website

I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.
