I am looking at getting a new vehicle. And I would like to have it loud as stink and sound good too (but loud). I am considering horns and other ways to get the front stage volume I am looking for. I am looking for suggestions on vehicles and setups that will get there from here.
My initial grouping is:

#1. Jeep- Cherokee: a SPL vehicle! I can also lots of haul crap in it. LOTS of room for kicks and it looks like horns would work too. Downside I don’t know if they have any reliability

#2. VW Golf: a good SQ car (with kicks & or horns) and with a box in the hatch reasonably loud. They are fun to modify and are quick and fun to drive (diesels have great MPG)

#3 Scion (B): tons of room for a box in the back and anything I want up front… appearance is just too quirky but super gas mileage (and a gutless engine).

SUGESTIONS?

VW Golf...Jetta if space is a requirement. If your looking for European styling and decent get up and go you can't beat VW. The Jetta has a huge trunk. I have a Mk3 Jetta and people can't believe how much space I have. Even with the system in it, I have lots of room...

Get the scion, would be an awesome car to work on and i think if you get some HID's in the front and drop it down a bit it would look awesome.

Scion! It looks like a box on wheels, but 5axis models did a good job on appearance so nothing's impossible. Just throw in a TRD supercharger and it's good to go! Personally, with a car shaped like that, achieving sq and spl should be a little more forgiving. You'd be able to fit horns, kicks (or both!), tweets on the dash, and have modest space for subs in the back. It's a Toyota so reliability shouldn't be a problem either.

Ah... but what do I know.

One thing your really going to have to look at before you start in on considering horns is seeing if the below dash is the same height. If not your going to be doing some modifications. Also be aware of which horns you plan on choosing as the drivers themselves can get quite big and hard to mount on some vehicles. But Im sure you already know this. Next year our team will be doing a scion xb so there is potential there I just havent seen it up close. Any reason the choice for horns or just doing it for the efficiency?

Right - Jaime's choice of an xB wasn't necessarily for sound - he just liked the car.

For SQ, I'm optimistic that the roomy interior can be a benefit - but equally fearful of the nearly parallel glass walls on each side.

It does look like the windshield goes away from you quite a bit in front of the driver, which can be good...

...but thinking along those lines - the VW Beetle I still believe has some fantastic potential as a SQ vehicle, and most likely as an SPL vehicle as well (although no doubt still not as good as a classic VW Beetle was for SPL), although the VW Beetle is very much short on hatch space - I know from firsthand experience, my wife's had one for almost 4 years now.

I wish I could tell you firsthand how it is as an SQ vehicle - she won't let me touch the car, short of putting a set of wheels on it.

xB is a bargain, and a quality car - and probably not too short on balls if you get the 5-speed (automatic is against my religion anyway) -but it really does look to have a monster interior - good for SQ, bad for the big-bass cabin gain that smaller vehicles have.

The Scion is certainly a mobile shoebox, but front and rear passengers have butt tons of room. There is so much legroom I could put kicks in the rear passenger area. The dash is flat and low so front speakers would work well.

Horns give a glimpse of reality I really enjoy (when they aren’t screeching or hooting... which is when they are operated outside their operating band) Horns are a pain (due to their size) but their efficiency is incredible (yes loud is important for this install) and their transient performance (and detail) is spectacular.

The beetle (DWVW?) looks to be interesting but it is so small. But man do I love thrashing around town in a VW (Team Image Dynamics is majoring in VW)

I thought the Cherokee would be a decent option but no recommendations from CCA... lots of room for a floor/ door build of some sort. The used Jeeps didn’t retain much value so as far as cutting and grinding... I would take no prisoners.
