I'm currently looking at purchasing an amp for my car. I have a JL 12W6 subwoofer and plan on getting a DVD screen deck, plus I have recently replaced my stock door and tweeder speakers with JL as well. I am thinking about the 500/1 amp or the 300/4 amp. Can anyone help me out please with which amp will suit me better?? Thanks!!

What are you looking to power with the amp? The sub , the speakers, the tweeters, or everything?

I am thinking about the 500/1 amp or the 300/4 amp.

You've got apples & oranges here, cannot compare the two. 500/1 is a pure sub amp AND a one channel amp while the 300/4 is a 4 channel amp. If you just want to power than one sub then get the 500/1 , if you want to power the entire system get the 300/4

Well I already have the space for the speakers to just actually take out the original speakers and put in the replacements I bought so i don't believe I'll need to hook it up to the amp, however I am buying a DVD screen deck so should I hook the speakers and sub to the amp or just use the amp for the sub?

Ok, here is what I would do, buy the 500/1 and hook it up to the sub. This amp is class D and one channel so it is only able to drive one or 2 subwoofers NOT any midreange speakers. Run all your door speakers and rear speakers(if any) off your dvd headunit, this should sound ok but your new jl mid speakers will be slightly underpowered, not a big problem. Then at a later date, when you have more $$$ buy the 300/4 or a comperable 2 channel amp to power the door speakers to their full potential. I did this exact procedure in my car but with different brands.
