| I'm looking for a 4 channel amp to power my fronts and rears.. i'm looking for about 50w rms per channel which both of these offer..
The amps would be powering JL TR's or JL VR's (not sure which yet)
Anyone have any opinions on which amp is better?
JL 300/4 or JL e4300 ? [ February 15, 2004, 11:51 AM: Message edited by: WaTTZ ]

| 300/4 is a better amplifier, but is also 75 x 4. Get the vr's, they are well worth the price difference.

And anyone have any experience with the 'e' series? [ February 15, 2004, 02:55 PM: Message edited by: WaTTZ ]

| E series amps are still amazing by any strech of the imagination. The only differences, it seems, between an "e" and a "slash" is that the "e" doesn't have RIPS (ie the same power over a range of loads) and it also doesn't have the equalization and crossover options the slash series amps do. Either amp will make you very very happy it is impossible to wrong in my opinion with those two selections.

| I'd say they are as good or better.

| I am very good friends with the local shop owners(JL, Eclipse, Clarion, RF), and we talk alot about car audio obviously. They don't BS me at all.
They think the slash series are nice amps
but the new E series has really impressed them(and if they thought they sucked, they would tell me that too), and they would say the E series is a better value. I have heard a few setups done with the E series, and they did quite well from what I heard.
As for the speakers, definitely spend the extra on the VRs. That is not to say the TRs suck, but the VRs are a nicer speaker.
I haven't run an entry level eclipse amp(ran 2 of their premium line and loved them), but I would say go with whatever amp gives you the power/flexibility you need at the price you can pay. You shouldn't be disappointed with either, imo. [ February 17, 2004, 11:41 AM: Message edited by: PerryB ]
