I Have a Rockford Amp it is 150 Wats or 300 RMS if I run in 2Ohm mode witch I am but it cuts out on me once and a while if I turn it up to loud is there any easy tricks I could try to get it to stop cutting out on me when I turn it loud.

I got the Gain set to about 70% my Sub it a 800 RMS Diamond D 9 daul 4 ohm sub.

Maybe there is something wrong with this amp I did buy it used. or maybe its just abit to weak for that sub.

Sounds like either a power supply problem or gains too high. It should be set to match your decks line level. GAINS ARE NOT A LOUDNESS CONTROL. They should ALWAYS be set to match your decks output. The only exception is turning the gain lower than your deck line level to adjust to match your highs. That's all..... my guess is 70% is way too high. If you need more power buy a bigger amp.

ok Thanks for the quick reply I will try to turn the gain down to see if that helps also must of the time I notice it its going through my XM radio not sure if that make a difference of not but when I Play MP3's it seems better.

What is the model# of the amp? What size power and ground wire are being used?

P3001 AMP the Power wire is alittle thin, whould that make it cut out on me? I'm not sure what gauge it is though Could I throw in a higher Fuse in the Power wire do you think that would help\?

The ground wire is alot thicker then the pwoer wire.

Double check the ground to ensure it is as good as you can get it. Ideally, your power wire should be as large as required for the length that it is and fused for that length. Your problem has nothing to do with the fuse. It is more than likely a too small a power wire issue coupled with incorrect gain settings and quite possible a bad ground. Another note, the amp was used correct? If so then it might have had it's day in the sun. What you have is a big sub with too small a amplifier to power it for your needs.

I could not see the gauge # on the power wire but it was a cheap one 30 AMp fuse in it alos I have blown the fuse a few times with my old amp and the wire is all black going from the battery to about the fuse, do you think this might be cause some power lose I was going to cut the burnt looking wire off and see if that helps?

Also when I Bought the amp of some guy it did not have the Crome grills on it for some reason I think maybe it has a heat issue and he took the grills off to try to keep it cooler maybe.

If hte wire is going all black it is oxidizing as it is cheap welfare crap wire. Replace the entire length of wire and fuse holder. Keep in mind that if you are going to be going to a larger amp in the future, you should be looking at a minimum of a 4 gauge line.

Yeah I have to agree with everyone here. I used to own this model amp, bought it new from Bestbuy. I also had it wired to 2ohm running 2 x 10" Kenwood 150rms subs. This amp would pound all day with no heat issues whatsoever. It is not the right amp to run that sub. If you are sure you will never upgrade it and never add another amp you can run 8ga wire with a 60amp fuse within 6" of the battery. If upgrades are a possibility then go for at least 4ga, if major upgrades are possible then put in the 0/1 ga now. With the gains that high it just can't keep up and is overheating. What head unit do you have?
