ok i finally got some money and am going to finish my system. i already have 4 alpine 4" speakers that are pretty nice, but obviosly no bass. so i bought 2 12" kicker comps that are 8 ohm dont know the watts but there old. im going to build my own box. just wondering what amp i should get or what i should look for. i have already hooked both them up just to try them out and they were fairly loud. just wondering what to look for in an amp for these subs thanks

Well, if you have 2 SVC 8 ohm subs you probably want an amp that does max power at 4 ohm mono. Wire them in parallel, bridged to a decent 2 channel and you're set. I would think 2-300 watts RMS for the pair would be adaquate.

If your subs are indeed 8 ohm, wire them in parallel. This creates a 4 ohm load. The amp you are looking for is a 2 channel amp that bridges to 4 ohm mono and will give you the power you need.

Get a good wood glue. Nails just really hold it together while the glue dries.

I would go buy some MDF. Pine boards would flex a lot I think.

As long as the amp is bridgable it can be ran mono. Look for an amp that does max power into 4 ohm mono.

Definatly get some MDF. Home Depot a sheet of 3/4" is around $30 and they will make like 5-6 free cuts and then a buck each one after that. There cuts are straighter and cleaner then you can do at home with a skil saw or small table saw. Some nice heavy duty wood glue (something like elmers yellow or Gorilla glue) and just clamp and brad nail away. And then your good to go.
