What does compare to an IDMAX?

Hey guys!

I'm not looking to buy a sub that compares to the IDMAX; in fact, I bought two brand new in January. Haven't heard them yet 'cause I'm not home for a while... will be doing the install in July.

I haven't heard a lot of subs in my life...
For those who have heard a sealed MAX, what sub(s) would you compare it to in both the SQ and SPL departments??

I was told the OZ Matrix Elite puts out almost the same performance, but I've never heard one. I'm also wondering if a pair of those (sealed of course) will be loud enough for my taste, off an Orion 1200D (planning on buying a better amp for them this winter)...

Thanks in advance for any input!

Stereo Integrity Mag D2
JL Audio W7
Diamond Audio D9
Eclipse Titanium's

those are ones that people have consistently compared to the max. i have heard a few of them, but i must say i am still a rather big IDMAX fan

Thanks! out of those you listed, I only heard the W7 first hand... a sealed 12W7 in a 2000 Accord to be exact. And I seriously thought it was loud as hell, and great sounding at the same time (since I only had a low end Eclipse 12" sub in my last setup). Would you say that a pair of MAX's (a bit underpowered, but not for long ) is a step up of a sealed W7?

If you install them properly, it could outperform the w7 sure.

nice! oh well... I guess they wouldn't outperform a ported L7 or two ported Type R's in SPL, wouldn't they?!

I got two buddies that have those setups, and the Type R's are powered off the same amp (1200D)...

But I bet mine will still sound cleaner

OZ ME is an extremely close competitor to the MAX in all areas.

I'm not the biggest fan of the W7. In fact I prefer the SQ of the W6v2 but the W7 does have more output potential than the W6.
Equally powered the W7 and MAX/OZ are all going to be pretty close in output.

If you felt that a single 12W7 sealed was loud then don't worry a bit about your two 12 Max's and the 1200D not being loud enough. I run two 12" OZ ME's off the same power and they quite effortlessly make the car hard to breath in when required.
