caps only help with transients and they may keep your lights from doing the anoying stobe thing ..........don't buy a cap with a digital readout ....the esr is way too high with the added electronics

and while all caps may be built in the same place not all are exactly the same .......make sure the esr is less tham 0.03 ohms or it's useless ........that said get the cheapest low esr cap you can since brand does not matter

now that said an optima yellow top batery has an esr of 0.03 ohms.......same as a cap and it costs almost the same as a cap (250ish) .....so IMO I'd get a yellow top .....it'll do the same thing as a cap and you get a great battery to boot

also before buying a cap or a yellow top be sure to upgrade you factory ground and power wires as this solves most problems

^ Why would it? Once the cap is at the same voltage as the battery it has no potential and draws no more current. Essentially it is 'full'.
