Was the box cut perfectly at rona? I can never get the guys to make perfect cuts so I always end up having an edge that is like 0.5mm-1mm shorter than the other. So in the end I have to use wood filler and a power sander to fix it up.

Rona did a decent job cutting. I mean, you can't
get everything done 100% right. The edges aren't
flushed 100%...there's a slight margin of error,
but it's nothing noticable once covered up.

Rona gives 5 free cuts and then charges you $0.50
for additional cuts. My wood sheet required 9
cuts but the dude gave me all the cuts free.

Its not so much as a cube that you want to watch out for, just parallel sides, if one side were angled, there would be even less of a chance of a peak or drop in the frquecy responce, a parallel box can sometimes (not always) do some weird things

I never heard of such a thing as worrying about paralleled sides in a sub box. I never used a box with a tapered side for subs, not that I ever will, but in a sealed box, it didn't seem like there was any difference.

Gonad, good work there on that setup. [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img] Is the box screwed down right now? I would suggest if possible to turn the box 90 degrees so that the sub faces the back and fires against the rear. You may get louder bass that way. Try both methods at the same volume level and see which one sounds better. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Heh, oh ok. Well the box is too big to fit
further down back. I can make it face the rear
but it will end up being real close to the back
panels. I'll play around with diff positions [img]smile.gif[/img]

Actually, if you really wanted to, you can pay for cuts and get them done exactly as you need them. They have a cut shop that has the precise tools to make almost exact cuts of whatever you want. I only know this because I used to work at Lansing (now rona) and unless they changed things, it should still be the same.
