Hi and thanks for looking.
I am planning a new install in my 2004 Chevy Cavalier (4 door) and while i have a reasonable idea of what I want, I am confused about speaker loads, wiring and a couple of other things I would like to know
I would appreciate your input...
I am planning:-
Pioneer head unit, nothing fancy, DEH-6800MP or similar
Crossover - Active or passive in-line? Used RF passive in the past with good results but hear active is way better.
6 interior speakers - 4" front doors, 6 1/2" rear shelf and 2x1" tweeters in the front pillars.
1 amp (or 2 if needed) bridged to a single (or double) 10" sub in a custom box (i will build) in the trunk.
Now for all the questions!
Q1. Do i use the 4 channel outputs from the head unit to the crossover (assuming active) or the pre-amp outputs?
Q2. How do i wire 6 speakers off a 4 channel amp? Front and rear in parallel?
Q3. If parallel, does that mean i need an amp capable of 2ohm output (2x4ohm speakers in parallel).
Q4. Why does the head unit i want have 3 pre-amp output & a sub preamp output? How would i use 3 pairs of outputs + sub?
Q5. When buying the speakers, sub(s) and amp(s), how do i calculate the load and match it to the amp output?
Thanks again for reading, even more so for a reply... yes i'm a noob at this...
Cheers!
