What are everyone's thoughts on bi-amping front stage components? I am going to be running Focal 165v2's and when i was talking to the guy in the store he mentioned that he has bi-amp'd Focals on a few occasions and recommended it if I had the amp for it.
so what are everyone's thoughts on it? Worth it or no?

truthfully i'm still in the midst of putting it together.
My bottom end will be a Kicker L5 12" in a sealed box with a kicker kx1200.1
Front stage will be the above Focal's. HU will be an Eclipse Navigation unit.
From my last car i still have a KX 300.2 amp that I was going to use but may upgrade to a 4channel if it was worth doing (reason for this thread).
So you see I'm looking for opinions and what equipment would be recommended to complement what i have so far.

bi-amping will give you full control over each individual speaker. Which can come in handy when your setting up your car. So if you have the ability to bi- amp I would suggest it.

Active set up is the way to go...if you have the right components and like to tweak.

I bi-amped my front components. The idea is that you don't distort the highs if/when the mid-bass is maxed out.
I have MB Quart RCE-216's. The crossover that came with them is bi-ampable so I used it, even though i have a pheonix gold crossover before the amp. I'm using a pioneer 5100T for each door speaker. 125 wrms on each.

I tried the supplied crossover with single amp, didn't like it. Tried it direct off the amps, sounded good. Then i tried it with the supplied crossover bi-amped and couldn't tell much difference, so i left it in there. It's got built in tweeter protection so it's safer.

Bottom line, try everything, lets us know what works best.

I have an extra amp on the way (Xtat 2002m) that is 50 x 2 RMS and I think I will use it to run tweeters only. The only problem is I don't have crossovers that allow for bi-amping and I don't have a separate crossover that will do a 12 db/octave slope. I hope that with a 24 DB slope it will still sound good...

Bi-amping is the best way to setup where you sound stage is. One of the sales people at work has a set of bi-amped 4" type-X components in his 330i, powered off of a crossfire 302 for the mids, and a 202 for the tweets. With this setup the sound stage is positioned directly over the stearing wheel, which gives increadible SQ and controle. Although if your planning on bi-amping, make sure you have a deck that as bi-amp out puts, like the premire 880 and 890. Otherwise there is really no point in doing this.

^ stage can only be indirectly affected by changes in crossover points.........

the main reasons to biamp (as posted) are greater control over points, and ease of level matching.......... and also you eliminate shifts in crossover freq. as the voice coils heat up....... !!!!
