here is the issue, my visonic 4000xd amp one day came on with the protect light, took it to the local audio shop, thay sent it out for repair, got it back a few days later, hooked it up and in a split second the amp was hot enough to burn your skin to the touch, took it back, sent away again, after a few days thay said there is 8 mosfits bad. and deamed unfixable ??? - So after 3 months I finally got it back, opened the amp up and notice that thay cut out 7 mosfits, and 3 are burnt and still in the amp ?? -Yes my amp was butchered, Not to say that in the long run cost me $210 bucks, My money I paid to have it fixed was to be refunded to me as thay cant fix it, then a store credit, then FA.

I have the #s off the missing damaged mosfits, should i try fixing, anyone know a place that can look at it reasonable, thats honest ??

The missing ones have the # - 1RF9640
and the burnt ones have the # - 1RFP064N

Open for suggestions?

there is a good chance that every single fet on the board will need to be replaced... total cost could be over $300-$400

at any rate it sounds like your local shop screwed you... you should have taken it to a repair shop on your own.... I would go in and demand your $$$ or take them to court....

unless the board has burned traces it can be fixed....

Mosfets are cheap... its the labour. Did they say why they did not fix it?
On the other hand those IRFP064N fets handle 110 amps.. they are in the switching supply.. that is a huge amount of current and maybe there was something else wrong...To be honest it takes some abuse to blow a 110amp transistor.. If I would open an amp and see that kind of dammage I would hesitate to fix it..

and how many amps do you service?
not many from the looks of it
transistors can be chap or very exspensive
had a sony amp in price on the transistors was over $ 50 each
and there were 8 per half channel
do the math there mr transistors are cheap
p.s. sony uses obsolite parts so they buy up old stock for a deal
then when you need to get it serviced the only source for parts is from them
unless you willing to pay for a production run from the manufacturer

Sorry to hear that, i hope it works out for you.

This yet another good reason why I stick to old school amps that are 10 , 15+ years old. If they have lasted that long with no repairs they will last at least another 10 to 15 years.
