| on another forum some dude is asking about "really high end 6.5" comps". he wants focal, or maybe dls... something like that.
i suggested alpine type X or seas or scan-speak or rainbow... about 6 or 8 brands at that level.
some dude comes on raving about how alpine type S are "just as good, but cheeper!!"
what is it that drives people to share misinformation?? i know im not the only car audio buff that this must annoy, but it really puzzles me.
when people are talking about $400-800 component sets, why bother suggesting something that is definitely NOT what the buyer wants.
f**king people....

| being ignorant is easy.
but it's just his opinion right? if the author of the topic wants high end comps, he would probably know that type s are not really that high end and would skip that recommendation. |

| bah, i know what you mean, it doesnt really bother me... its more a sign of the times, people seem to be getting stupider and more self assured.
dont take this the wrong way, im as dumb as the next guy, but at least i usually know when to keep my mouth shut.
i dunno, guess im just ranting, but false information annoys me. |

| Id be surprised if anyone here could explicitly tell me why one set is better then the other.....
many put too much interest into price tags marketing and hearsay... IMO

| Do you need fancy graph to see why one set is better than the other one?
Sorry I don't have all the required measuring tools, so I rely on others. |

| well Haunz, as im sure you well know, the simplest method is to listen. on pretty much any half decent demo board you should be able to compare two different speakers and get an idea which you prefer.
unfortunately, when dealing with high end junk, that isnt an option in edmonton, as most of the local sales people seem to think that type R alpine stuff is "the shiznit!!! for real!!1!!"
often when you mention other brands, such as DLS or LPG you are met with a blank look of confusion...sometimes they will say "oooohhh yeah, thats the new line from kenwood right??"
sorry for the continued references to alpine, its just that im more framiliar with their line than most of the other big brands, and they have four clearly defined performance levels. |
