So, I haven't posted in this section forever. But, this is something I'm kinda not sure about. I'm trading in my SUV tomorrow. Which got broken into last week (See the donut shop). And I'll be getting a car, in fact it's pretty much already bought. Now days I don't quite have the hunger for heart stopping bass that I used to. Plus, I don't want to rattle the car apart. Most cars sound really rickety after a year or two of hardcore bumping. But, I do want added bass.

So my question is. What would be a good subwoofer size and amp power combination to make a car sound nice? I mean, I can probably guess, but I've always had two subs in all my vehicles and almost always a big amp and a very loud setup. So I'm kind of in the dark as to what is a good single sub/amp combination, for getting moderate bass. I've had two 12s, two 10s, and a 15 before.

I guess what I'm looking for is for it to get reasonably loud so I can rock out if I want to. But, not deafening. I'd also like a sub and size that will hit a broad range of sounds. I'd like to still be able to hear the deepness in my music.

The vehicle is a 2005 Nissan Altima. It's got a pretty big trunk. So if the box needs to be a little bigger to hit those low notes, it's not a huge issue. It's actually one of the largest trunks I've seen in recent years.

Any opinions would be great. It doesn't have to be super high end equipment. Something mid range would be fine.

I'm just really blind when it comes to what would be good for lower end bass. Before, when I would put together a system I just looked at what would handle the most watts and what amp would drive it the hardest. So I know nothing about my question.

I thought that I wanted what you described (as I too am getting older).
So I got an eD 8" sub getting 260wrms. . .
Recently I've been playing with the idea of getting a single 15" on 400wrms.
Short answer - Don't go with just an 8"

From where you came, I think a single 15" will do you well. So when you really want to crank it up you still can.
