So now I've got an 05 RE XXX 12" that I got off blindhammer, thanks! I've got a box for a 15" (sealed), and it might fit in the car, can I throw something over the hole and cut another for the sub? Does this sub need a braced enclosure? Also looking for an amp!

I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce.

Okay I have a sealed box for a 15" and it fits in the trunk to the back nicely. It's a bassworx box and is pretty sturdy (3/4" MDF I think). I don't know how to make boxes and I don't want to f- it up so I'd get one made and pay for something braced if I can't use the 15" box. Can I throw on another surround on the box and throw in the RE?

X2

The bassworks box might be alright but it wasn't designed for your XXX. Building a sealed enclosure is easy. For 50 bucks you can get a sheet of 3/4 MDF and have it cut. All you have to do is screw and glue. The experience of building the box is worth it even if you screw it up the first time. Any box that you build yourself is going to better than a store bought one IMO. You will be able to get plenty of help in the building and designing process right here also.

You'll thank yourself later. It is good experience and you'll feel great knowing you did it yourself.

the sheet of MDF is more like $25 actually and make sure you predrill the holes for the screws with a smaller diameter drill bit than your screws otherwise the mdf will split. and since that thing is probably a monster you might want to make it a double baffle

I'm going to build my own because I know EHR won't make it the diamter or tuning I'd want it. I'm going to measure today, I don't know how much space I'll have to go ported, but I'm crossing fingers . How much smaller of a diamter screw to predrill? What is a double baffle? I've always wondered, does the shape of a box change the sound, even slightly? Should I forward or rear fire? Which way should a port face (rear seat folds down btw)? Can I get box designs on here?

I have two amps that might interest you, I have them posted in Classifieds with pics. One does 1000 Watts @ 2ohms the other is 1300 Watts @ 2 ohms. Both Ratings are RMS. Rockford and Infinity. $350 each.

Otherwise, I think one of the Vendors has a unit that is identical to my Rockford with more power (1500 RMS) for sale.

What's the price on this vendor's 1500W amp? The RE is dual 2 ohm, don't I need 1500W (1600W I think) @ 1 ohm? Can I wire it into 2 ohms? If so, I'm interested in the 1300W amp. PM me.
