I've put more than that on one and it was fine for daily beats

SXs are rated at 1000W RMS. I would never be able to make them take 2500W on a daily basis... SPL yes, but daily they simple dont have the thermal capacity (or mechanical) to do so. We really dont recommend our top line BTL for more than 2500W daily for most applications as well (although everyone seems to push them with more than that).

That is why. He has stated on MANY occations that he does NOT recommend putting more then 1200Watts to a SSD with ALL options.

With my Memphis 15" in my car, it only plays the lows real well, but when it hits up in the higher frequency, about 60-65hz (just a guestimate), it loses its punch (kick drum). (I've got the LPF set at 80hz on my deck, same as with the L7)
I listen to metal, rap, hard rock, dance, classic rock.
For rap & dance it's great but for the metal and rock it just sucks.
It plays the long low notes good, but the short quick ones it's way out of its league.
The box I have for it is what they (the manufacturer) suggested for it, for running it at less than what it is rated for power. 5cu.ft tuned to 36hz.

Sounds like you enjoy the sound from your L7. Have you thought of picking one up for your car? The L7's from my understanding can take quite a beating.

On a side note - have you tried your L7 in your car to see if it exhibits the same characteristics as the Memphis? It could be the car causing a null at those frequencies...

Otherwise, have you thought of EQing it to fill in the missing upper bass?

Best,
Mark

But when it's the opinion of the guy who designed the sub, it tends to carry a bit of weight
