SXs are rated at 1000W RMS. I would never be able to make them take 2500W on a daily basis... SPL yes, but daily they simple dont have the thermal capacity (or mechanical) to do so. Fi Car Audio | That is why. He has stated on MANY occations that he does NOT recommend putting more then 1200Watts to a SSD with ALL options.

Sounds like you enjoy the sound from your L7. Have you thought of picking one up for your car? The L7's from my understanding can take quite a beating.
On a side note - have you tried your L7 in your car to see if it exhibits the same characteristics as the Memphis? It could be the car causing a null at those frequencies...
Otherwise, have you thought of EQing it to fill in the missing upper bass?
