| when using passive crossovers, the tweeter is part of the circuit that includes the woofer, the tweeter, and the crossover. when the tweeter blows or goes out, the values of the capacitors and inductors changes and the crossover will function very differently, often drawing a lot more current than normal. or if it's simply because the xo itself crapped out, it's the same type of thing. this is the most likely reason why your amp is going into protection.
