I drive a 2000 Honda Accord and I have 2 amps. One running at 62.5 watts RMS in stereo (so 125 watts RMS total) and another at 250 watts RMS in mono for a grand total of 375 RMS watts.

I've been told that the honda alternator supports 65 amps and 80 amps at best.

I wanted to upgrade my amp to one that delivers 360 watts RMS in mono which would bring my total to 485 rms watts.

I have a 1 farad cap and an Optima Red Top battery. The Red Top is a starting battery and not a deep cycle such as the Yellow and Blue Top batteries.

Will I be okay with the upgraded amperage? Should I be considering upgrading my alternator? I could only find one place on eBay, alterstart, that is located in TX and gives a lifetime warranty. It's difficult to find a place in the GTA that does a good job of rebuilding alternators without losing my stock alternator.

I ran a MTX 500d and a MTX 304 (304 = 90x4 500d = 800w or so) in my Protege with a Motomaster battery and a 65amp alternator, never had problems with lights dimming or anything.

Your stock alternator will be fine [img]smile.gif[/img]

Im running a MMATS LM2075 75x2 rms (150w rms) and a RF bd1000.1 (1000w rms) Both of which are underrated.

Im running an Optima Yellow top battery aswell as the stock alternator. I have no problems what so ever, even though im draining power like a mofo. [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

Professor, the Yellow Top is helping a great deal...something that I don't have...although your alternator rating should be pretty close to my own...only thing is you have a greater deal of stored power due to the yellow top.

you should be fine if you have a cap and a red top battery, your not running enough power that I would consider an upgraded alt. Install the stuff and if you find yourself dimming then go from there, but im pretty sure you wont have a problem.
