I have the option of either of these sets for about the same price. I used to compete in IASCA for several years from the mid to late 90's but WOW have things changed. I ran the origional Q's at the time, and many lines of MB Quart before that but I know they are no tthe same but wasn't sure if perhaps the top lines are. Both sets will be in the $500 range. They will likely be run by an Aline PDX 4.150 and an Alpine 9887 head unit. Sub most likely to be an IDQ 10 V.2. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

I was offered the ES-620's for the same price and I can go with a silk or illuminum OR, titanium for that matter. Seems to be lots of variances with the x-overs for those systems. I did figure though a Quart titanium of course will be much brighter than the silk.

Anyone here experience both these sets?

Boo-ti-ful!!!!! Please chime in with the review after you break them in for a week or so. Also, let us know exactly what you have in what size and what x-over. Enjoy...

ES-62i GOLD TEN yr warranty on these things

ES-6 driver
DRT-26 silk tweeter
560i x over

I went silk becasue they are going in an MR2 in stock locations and they are pretty much RIGHT in my face. He also is giving me the upstage LT1 or whatever it's called tweeter set, all for the same deal!

The the moment I will be running them with an Image Dynamics IDQ10V3 sub and the whole system will be powered by a Alpine PDX 4.150, and the HU will be a 9887.

Changing thigns up on the front stage amp. Will now be likely a Audison LRx 2.500.

Sub is the issue now. Will be either the CDT SQ1000, or the IDQ10v3.

Issue is do I buy another 2.500 for the sub or go with a 1.400 for the sub. The CDT is only avail. in a 4 Ohm SVC which is stupid but reality none the less. So who knows. Thoughts?

As per a PM from Sasha, felt like following up here.

The Titaniums tweets were WAYYYY Bright.... silks and aluminums are on their way to my place as we speak so I can try the alternatives and select which I prefer, then send the other 2 back. My only impressions are at lower and mid volumes so the brightness is under control, but at these leevls they sound fantastic. Would like a little more midbass but I'm gonna add a little mroe dynamat and seal them off a little better in the mount holes and I think thats going to help. It's clear these things like power, and they are getting it with the 250 watts RMS from the Audison. Will let you guys know more once I've tried all 3 tweets.

Good to hear. Also, the DRT-26's are a bit sensitive, so you may want to try using the "image tweeter" input instead of "main tweeter" on the crossover, and that will bring the tweeters down by 3db, and match the ES mids better, cause I believe the mids are about 89db, and the tweets are 91.5db. This way you will feel the mids much better, as the sound will be more balanced.
